Watch/Listen to Past Services
What would you do if you went to your mailbox (the one at the curb in front of your house or the virtual mailbox on your device) and found a letter from . . . God? That’s exactly what happened to seven churches two thousand years ago in the Roman province of Asia. We’re going to slip into their worship services and listen as they read their letters from God. At times, with them, we’ll be comforted. But there will also be some confrontation. Either way, this will be some of the most important mail you’ll ever read.
You are I are not locked into the lives we are living. We can live into a new reality. And that new way of living begins with our imagination. But we’re not talking about the kind of positive thinking fluff you hear on self-help podcasts or see on late-night TV. That’s the shallow end of the pool. We’re talking about imagination empowered, led and redeemed by God. And God is able to do more than we ask or imagine.
Maybe you’ve heard the Old Testament story about the guy who was swallowed by a whale – or to be more precise an extremely large fish. It’s one of the most entertaining stories in the Bible. But it isn’t in there because it’s entertaining. It has a point to make and that point is shockingly relevant to what’s going on in our culture these days. It may even be uncomfortably relevant to what’s going on in your life. Join us for Jonah: God’s Stubborn Grace.
The book of Joshua is full of wonderful stories and vexing questions -- questions for which there are no easy answers. It teaches lessons we did not know we needed to learn and challenges us in ways we would prefer to avoid. But it gives us something we need - faith - for a place we have never been - the future.
Is the Bible all it’s cracked up to be? Is it really from God in any significant way or did imaginative people just make up all those stories? Is it true? Is it reliable? Can we trust it? Is the Bible authoritative and, if it is, what does that actually mean?
If God is so good, why is the world so bad?
Would you hold onto your convictions, stand your ground and refuse to compromise even if God did NOT deliver you? That’s what the heroes in this story did. That’s what we can do, too – if we know what they knew. Join us.
