Advent 2018 - Christmas Promises

Sermons in this series

The Gift of Christmas
What would you give you if you were God? An old man’s prayer and an angel’s announcement contain some excellent gift suggestions.
Children's Christmas Program + Missing the Point
When Katherine Wright, sister of Orville and Wilbur, showed the editor of the local newspaper a telegram from her brothers announcing their successful first flight, his response was: “Oh, how nice. The boys will be home for Christmas.” The world as he knew it was on the eve of dramatic change and he totally missed it. Kind of makes you wonder what we’re missing.
Out of Egypt
That's My Story
Children never just hear a story – they try it on for size. They’ll stomp around in too-big boots playing cowboy for a day or drape a towel around their shoulders for a superhero cape. To a child, a story isn’t just about what happened. It’s a promise of what might be. I think Matthew, the author of the first gospel, believed that, too. He isn’t just writing history. He’s prompting us to find ourselves in this story. To try it on for size. So – what part of this story is yours? Which character are you?
An Impossible Promise
When you hear the word prophet, you think about some bearded sage who predicts the future. But what if you thought of a prophet as someone who makes a promise? An impossible promise. And what if that promise, as impossible as it is to believe, was kept? That’s what Christmas is. Impossible promises kept by a faithful God.

Why Our Members Chose Twickenham

Although we were coming from a more conservative background, we quickly noticed that there was an openness and sense of welcoming that made us feel very at ease. We embrace fully what seems to be an environment of healing for the broken. We believe in moving from maintenance to mission. We have been impressed by the engaged nature of the shepherds, staff and membership.

I want to learn more about God’s Word and hold Him close in my heart. Twickenham seems to be able to guide me by offering similar perspectives to which I can relate as well as unique views that open my mind.

I was very impressed with the love, compassion and how sincere the worship is.
